Rescue Rodents
See the UK Rodent Rescue Map to locate UK rescues that takes in common or exotic rodents.
Crittery aims to encourage getting exotic or common rodents from rescue or ethical breeders; pet shops often give poor advice and some are supplied by rodent farms. Please see our section on rescue rodents for details of rodents that need homes.
Before you take in that cute rodent staring at you in the pet shop - take a moment to think of all the rodents currently being cared for in rescue. Unwanted litters from pet-shop missexing happen remarkably frequently, so you can still get them as pups. In many cases they will have been socialised more with humans!
