African Pygmy Dormice pups are sometimes be available for sale or adoption. These will only be sold to homes that are prepared to do the research required, maintain a good Dormouse habitat and varied Dormouse diet or are already knowledgeable. I will always be available as backup, and you can return your Dormice should your circumstances change and you become unable to care for them. We are UK based.
African Pygmy Dormouse are one of the most interesting and attractive exotic rodents I have owned. They require an arboreal vivarium with plenty of climbing material and natural enrichment and must be kept in pairs or more. They are not expensive or smelly pets to keep and are argueably the most fascinating to observe. They make excellent pets for someone who wants something unusual, beautiful and interesting.
Buying from us
I will only sell in pairs or more unless you already have some. These can be unrelated pups. Please note that Pygmy Dormice are very difficult rodents to sex until they reach sexual maturity at around 5-6 months so this means that I will not be able to guarantee the gender of pups.
I am hoping that future Pygmy Dormice pups will be handtame but this will ultimately depend on the temperament of the mother and the pups in question.
All African Pygmy Dormice sold come with a bag of my premade seed mix and care reference for them. On occasion I can also sell full vivarium setup. I am happy to offer advice on any aspects of dormouse care throughout their lifetime.
There may be occasions where an older animal or animals are also available for re-homing.
